Denise A. Assogna, D. D. S.

Denise A Assogna established her endodontic practice in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1992. She is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers) where she completed a two-year specialty training program in endodontics. Dr. Assogna attended the four year program at SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where she earned her D.D.S. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Philosophy from Fordham University.

Dr. Assogna’s teaching experience includes: Clinical Instructor at the Endodontic Program at SUNY Stony Brook, undergraduate & post graduate clinical instructor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and since 2002, Dr. Assogna has served as Director of the endodontic curriculum and clinical Instructor at Castle Point VA. She continues to lecture at Harvard, Stony Brook, local dental meetings, and study clubs. She has also served as Secretary of the Dutchess County Dental Society for several years. Dr. Assogna completes several hours of continuing education annually. This illustrates her dedication to keeping up to date with the latest technology and techniques to ensure the best possible care is delivered to her patients.

Dr. Assogna supports many local charitable foundations and donates several scholarships to undergraduate and post graduate students. Dr. Assogna and Dr. Mejia have been voted Top Endodontists every year since 2008. Dr. Assogna is a member of the ADA, AAE (American Association of Endodontics), The NYSDA (New York State Dental Association) ,the 9th District Dental Society and the Dutchess County Dental Society.

Luz E. Mejia, D.D.S

Dr. Luz E Mejia who is fluent in Spanish joined Assogna Endodontics in 2003.  Dr. Mejia worked as a general dentist in a private practice in White Plains, New York and in Manhattan before obtaining her specialty in Endodontics. She earned her certificate in endodontics from NYU College of Dentistry where she taught the undergraduate dental students. Dr. Mejia completed her General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center and earned her D.D.S. from NYU College of Dentistry. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Manhattan College in Riverdale.

Dr. Mejia enjoys volunteering her time treating underprivileged patients in a dental outreach program in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Assogna and Dr. Mejia have been voted Top Endodontists every year since 2008.  Dr. Mejia completes a number of continuing education courses every year with the American Association of Endodontics and other organizations in order to keep her knowledge and skills updated.  She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the New York County Dental Society and a member of the 9th District Dental Society, the NYSDA and the Dutchess County Dental Society.

She lives in beautiful Cold Spring with her husband and 3 young boys where she is active in volunteering in her community and at her children’s schools. She is a board member of the non-for profit Haldane School Foundation, a member and chair of the Giving Tree Committee of the PTA at the Haldane School district and volunteers for school fairs, and the local lions club in addition to volunteering as class mother.

Joseph M. Blondin, D.M.D, M.S.

Dr. Joseph M. Blondin earned his Endodontic Certificate and Masters Degree in Dental Science from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine Endodontics program where he served as Chief Resident in his 3rd year. He completed a four year program at UCONN school of Dental Medicine to earn his D.M.D. degree and served as graduation speaker for his class. He earned his bachelor of science at the University of Notre Dame (go Irish!).

In 2014 he received the very prestigious Top 10 nationwide award for his oral research presentation from the AAE/Dentsply. Dr. Blondin is active in dental politics and served as a Resident Member of the American Association of Endodontics Committee on Regeneration and is a member of the 9th District New Dentist Committee.

Dr. Blondin volunteered his dental skills on a dental mission trip to Paraguay in 2011 and has participated in the Connecticut Mission of Mercy for the past three years, donating his services to the Connecticut underserved population.

Dr. Blondin is currently in the process of becoming Board Certified and is committed to providing excellence in endodontic care with a focus on diagnosis and patient satisfaction. He looks forward to treating you.

Hossein Moosavi, D.D.S., M.D.S.

Dr. Hossein Moosavi began practicing as a General Dentist 10 years ago in several locations including New Jersey and Colorado. He received his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from Colorado School of Dental Medicine in Denver. To have a better understanding of implant dentistry and to help in treatment planning for his patients, Dr. Moosavi spent a year as a preceptor and researcher at the UCLA Dental School Implant Center. He presented his research on “The Objective Parameters for Ideal Implant Positioning in the Esthetic Zone” at the Academy of Osseointegration’s annual meeting in Orlando Florida.

While practicing as a General Dentist, Dr. Moosavi took a great interest in Endodontics and saving the natural dentition which lead him to apply for an Endodontic Residency. Dr. Moosavi completed his Endodontic training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, receiving a Masters in Dental Science and a Certificate in Endodontics (Dr. Assogna’s alma mater!).  While at Rutgers he also completed a comprehensive training program in Implant Dentistry from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, which resulted in a further understanding of treatment planning for compromised and cracked teeth.

Dr. Moosavi’s continued passion for research was honored with the AAE/Dentsply Residents Award for his research presentation on “The Time Lapse between Completion of Endodontic Treatment and Restoration in a Dental School Setting” at the American Association of Endodontists annual meeting in New Orleans. Dr. Moosavi enjoys research and teaching so much so that he has become a part-time faculty member at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and is currently in the process of becoming a Board Certified Endodontist.

In his spare time, Dr. Moosavi enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, traveling, reading, and cooking. Dr. Moosavi’s calming personality and extraordinary clinical skills will make it easy for you to relax while having a root canal.  Dr. Moosavi looks forward to treating you.
